Understanding marine biodiversity during times of increasing human impacts
The Santa Barbara Channel Marine Biodiversity Observation Network (SBC MBON) is designed to provide a complete picture of marine biodiversity in the region. We are developing a widely applicable research model that integrates new information with existing data to improve current research and monitoring programs.

Defense strategies against herbivory in seagrasses
The aim of this project was to identify the mechanisms that drive the changes in defense strategies against herbivory due to changes in environmental factors in seagrasses. Particularly, how these mechanisms change under different environmental conditions and how changes in traits associated with resistance to herbivores determine the vulnerability of seagrasses to herbivory, highlighting the importance of assessing the effects of environmental factors on species interactions.
